Spring Break '11 - Universal Studios

We Chula Vista while the girls were still asleep so that we could get the Universal Studios first thing. Unfortunately, it also started raining very early and didn't stop. So we had to pick up ponchos on the way in.

Well...Jamie & I were the only two that would wear ponchos, so we were the only dry-ish ones. I mean, who doesn't want to wear a bright yellow, plastic poncho? My camera was dry, that's all I cared about!

We tried to have fun in the rain anyways.

Jamie & I went to the Terminator ride. It.was.loud. The 3D was pretty cool though.

Afterwords, my kid was the only one older than 10 years old to ride the motorcycle. Love him.

Then we got a little dry spell, so I took the opportunity to get a couple of pictures outdoors.

Then we decided to go on a tour of the park. It's been almost 20 years (eek) since I've been here; some things had change, some hadn't.

Fast & Furious set.

Psycho set.

War of the Worlds set.

The girls weren't really in the mood, but they stood by the 'Burger Guy' anyways.

Then we got in line to see Shrek 3D. We missed the show the first couple of times, so we got there early the third time! It was dry out for a minute.

Finally, we saw the Water World show. Jamie is a huge Kevin Costner fan so this was his must-see. I'm fairly sure he'd already seen it a couple of times.

Then we all got coffee/hot chocolate to warm up.

And just before we left, the sky started to turn blue and the clouds went away. Of course.

We walked around the park for a while and did some shopping.

If you'll notice in this picture, ET is in the symbol next o the Parking. We parked in the ET Lot - which was "supposed" to be close to the park. It wasn't. And, just behind Hailee, is Jamie peeking in to the shot.

Side Note: The parking attendant told us to park in Lot 18 - we looked all over and couldn't find it so we parked in the ET Lot. It took us a while to realize he said "ET", not "eighteen".

We all got in to dry, warm clothes when we got back to the rv and then headed to our campground. We arrived after dark, and someone had taken our site. We were upgraded to a larger site for free.

Jamie went to pick up spaghetti noodles that night, and that's when the Suzuki wouldn't start for him. He was stranded about 2 miles away, so we didn't get spaghetti for dinner as planned.

  1. Pictures are amazing. I love what you are capable of doing with those great pieces of equipment. You need to take me out sometime to play with your camera and teach me some of those killer skills you've learned.
The story of the ET parking lot is hilarious. Read it twice. lol
    Love you
