Nighthawk Updates - Today

To see pictures before this post, go to Nighthawk Interior Updates - Before the move.

I wouldn't normally post pictures of my unclean, unorganized, chaotic home, but you may never see pictures of the Nighthawk house otherwise.  I walked around this morning to take a few (crappy) pictures of how things look today.  You can tell which rooms/spaces that I'm working on, which ones Jamie is working in and the one that Makena lives in.

Direct TV was here from 8:30am until after 5:30pm setting up all of the tv's for the house. (They may have gotten done earlier had they not taken a smoke break every 10 minutes or answered every personal phone call they received, but whatever.)  The floor in the utility room got tiled.  We are, of course, short two tiles.  We also apparently "ran out of" one of the caulk colors needed to finish our bathroom.  Some parts of the hardwood were stained/fixed/sanded.  They look much better.   And because the Direct TV guys were in and out of my office most of the day, I spent that time clearing out the remaining boxes in my craft room and organizing a closet. So, pretty good for today.

And yes, we did finally order blinds, they just won't be in for another two weeks.  Thankfully, the HOA gave us 30 days to hang sheets in the windows.  (So kind of them.)

Nighthawk Interior Updates - Before the move

To see the pictures before this post, go to Nighthawk Interior Updates - Counters, fixtures and heavy lifting.

Here are a few more pictures that I took of the house the day we were cleaning.  I use the word "cleaning" loosely as Jamie and I spent several hours cleaning up after the construction crew days before this too.  This particular day though, I had someone come in and help me clean in the hopes of getting the house ready to move in to.  Unfortunately, construction crews were there that day too so things didn't get done like I had hoped.  (And they'll be back again tomorrow too, so things are still going a few weeks later...)

As I went to take pictures of the house today, I grabbed my camera and noticed there weren't any memory cards in it.  I then grabbed my small camera and the battery was exhausted.  So...no updated pictures of the house yet.  We do have furniture (yeah!) and most of the boxes unpacked (finally!) but things aren't organized or settled yet.  There is still work to be done, more cleaning to do, and not enough hours in the day.

Nighthawk - Exterior Updates

To read the post before this one, go to Nighthawk Exterior Updates.

We see our landscaper hit & miss, so not too much has been done to the yard yet.  At first we told him that we weren't in a hurry to get everything done (because we weren't moved in yet) but now we're pushing him along just like we did the interior of the house.

He wanted to complete the most labor intensive work first, so he hand dug new french drains (we get all of the street drainage) and began building retaining walls.

This flagstone was smaller than we had originally planned, so the next two walls are going to use larger stones.  This should also make the higher, large slope more secure.  But for right now, the dogs like running around and exploring things that they find in the dirt.

Here you can see the deck that is being built from our master bedroom.  I can't wait to sit out on it and enjoy the views with my morning coffee!

It was often difficult to pick out things like counter tops, when we didn't know what the cabinets were actually going to look like instead of a drawing.  Or how a sink would fit. Or how a faucet would look....

But most of them turned out well and we are happy with the decisions made.

Thankfully we have fabulous friends that helped bring Jamie's shuffle board table and pool table (that he bought before we even bought the house) in to the basement.  None of that looked fun.

Most of these things happened within a day or two of each other.  And again, we would be at the house most of every day making sure things were getting done and to watch the progress.
