Cancun - Part Uno

The 11 of us - Jamie & I, T & Chad, Cousin & Leah, Steve & JoNell (Cousin's parents), Jennifer (Cousin's sister) and Bob & Jeanie (Leah's parents) - left on an early flight for Cancun. We met up with Leah's friend, Courtney, when we arrived later that afternoon. We were all very excited to spend the next 7 days relaxing and enjoying the Sunset Lagoon Resort.

After a few hours registering and snacking, we finally made it to our rooms to unpack. Jamie and I shared a suite with Bob & Jeanie.

*I've tried to put a few photo collages in my Cancun posts so that I could upload as many pictures as possible.*

Then we all met up at the pool and spent time in the hot tub.

Because we had an all inclusive package, we could order room service and drinks any time we wanted. Chad loved this!

The resort was part of a time share that Cousin and Leah have. Because of this, we needed to sign up for a tour of this particular resort. They needed at least 6 of our 12 people to attend the tour in order for us to get free excursion tours outside of the resort. The tour was supposed to be 90 minutes, but ended up being almost 4 hours. A long start to our Sunday...

We did get to tour the yachts at the resort though.

After that, we just relaxed around the pool and the lagoon.

Which made Sunday much better.

On Monday, we decided to head over to the beach. The water was warm and beautiful, but the waves were a little abusive. We still had fun!

Chad and Jamie rented some boogie boards.

After a few hours, it was just Jamie, Cousin, Chad and I left at the beach. We continued to play in the waves until I lost my sunglasses and new ankle bracelet (the 'Mexican bling') that I bought from a man on the beach.

Our waiter made sure to keep our glasses full. He also made sure that we made it safely on the last shuttle back to the resort. But not before we got some pictures of ourselves with him and the bartender.

This is about the time my memory started to fade. Not a good story though I'm sure, as I spent the next day in bed.

Yep, the entire day in bed.

While in sunny, beautiful Cancun.

Trying to keep food down. Trying to relieve horrible cramping.

And that's all I'm gonna say about Tuesday.

Thankfully, I was feeling quite a bit better on Wednesday, because we had a jungle tour planned. Jamie, T, Cousin, Leah and I took a boat through the jungle to do some snorkeling.

I was looking forward to more "jungle", but this is all we got.

Oh well, we had a good time snorkeling! My sister and I bought under water cameras and were off.

Of course, we spotted a sting ray after we had taken all of the pictures in both of our cameras.

When we got back to the resort, we spent more time at the pool and the lagoon.

Cancun - Part Una mas cerveza

One tour we went on was set up by the resort. We had to go to a jewelry store first, but then we were taken to a couple of markets and then to Margaritaville.

Gotta love these shopping carts at the Mexican Outlet store.

Leah & Cousin doing some shopping.

Jamie (who doesn't drink beer), drinking a Corona after shopping.

Then playing around outside of the Hard Rock. Where they had PINKtober for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

We decided to stop for a couple of cervezas at Carlos 'n Charlies before heading to Margaritaville.

Which was fun...until a cockroach *flew down and landed on the table in front of me. The waiter (apparently the local cockroach spotter) ran towards our table, but I had already flicked (with my beer bottle) the nasty thing off the table, towards Cousin (who was impressed). My sister frantically tried to save the bug while I frantically tried to step on it. Jamie agreed to go sit outside with me until everyone else was done.

The 6 of us crammed into a taxi and headed to Margaritaville.

Margaritaville = drinking, fun, dancing, balloon hats, drinking, dancing, repeat...

I think that Leah, my sister and I were pulled up to dance 5 or 6 times while trying to eat dinner.
Then Cousin joined a conga line, where they stopped a few times for shots.

The next day, we went on a tour by boat to Isla Mujeres - Island of Women. Jamie called the boat "a booze cruise", which was pretty much what it was.

Booze Cruise = fun, music, snorkeling, then drinking, dancing, drinking, repeat...

Leah and I getting ready to snorkel

Jeanie & Leah

This was the first time Jamie and I had seen a barracuda while snorkeling. I don't think I'd ever like to see one again. After it stared me down, hissed at us and then showed it's long, sharp teeth, we swam away.

Jamie and I

We also saw other beautiful fish and some calamari. One of the divers brought up a sea star that I was able to hold. It was hard shelled and bigger than our star fish. I also spotted a pair of sunglasses that Jamie dove down and got for me.

This is what those that didn't snorkel did...drink.

When we arrived at the island, we were given lunch and a few hours to shop or swim.

Bob, Jeanie, Jennifer and I went in to town to shop while the others stayed back at the beach.

When we got back on the boat, there was a lot more drinking and dancing. One guy (who maybe already had a bit too much to drink) kept asking Leah, Jennifer and I to dance. Then, the 'cruise director' chose 4 couples to put on a little show for us.

These pictures can't even explain how funny this was. Even funnier, Leah's parents were on this trip with us...

Then, all of the guys danced to YMCA. Well...kinda.

And the girls did the Macarana. Well...kinda.

We all had dinner together again that night. Then Jamie and I spent some time back in the hot tub.

*I was informed that cockroaches don't really "fly". I honestly don't care what they do, as long as they do it far from me. This particular cockroach dropped from a vent in the ceiling, or so I'm assuming. This vent, just so happened to be above my head...the perfect place for sneaky cockroaches to hide.

Cancun - Part Dos

On Friday, we decided to head back over to town and do some shopping. Jamie and I walked in to town with Bob and Jeanie. Jamie and Bob had a great time "bargaining" with the shop owners. Jeanie and I were just overwhelmed. We got some goodies tho!

And made a trip to Cold Stone - Jamie's favorite place.

Before heading back to the beach one last time. Jamie brought along some snorkel gear.

Could the sail boat have been more perfect?

I spent some time taking pictures around the resort. It was the perfect time to be there; during the slow season.

Jamie and I ate lunch at Bubba Gump before heading home. We picked some goodies up for Makena there too as she loves Forrest Gump.

Jamie was really impressed with the clouds seen from the airplane on the way home.
